ABOUT GASOLINE HEAVEN Gasoline Heaven was completed in August 2007, eleven months after construction of the 600 square metre building began. Owned by Bob and Georgie Wilton, Gasoline Heaven is the home of a vast collection of Automotive memorabilia. Bob and Georgie began collecting memorabilia in 2002, with the first piece being an old wooden oil box. From there, the collection grew to such a size that it would no longer fit in it's previous home, a four-car garage in Carterton, so a museum showcasing these items was required. From old enamel signs, to fuel bowsers, antique oil cans, boxes, and oil boys this is one of the biggest single collections of it's kind in New Zealand. Located on the outskirts of the rural Wairarapa township of Carterton, Gasoline Heaven is the perfect place to visit during your visit to the Wairarapa, whether it be a sightseeing trip of New Zealand, a car club day or weekend trip, or just a day out with the family during the weekend, you'll just love the range of interesting items collected to preserve our past automotive history. Of course it doesn't end there, as there is also a range of cars, trucks, hot rods, drag cars and customs which are constantly changing, meaning each visit will uncover a unique and surprising display. Of course Bob's collection of English Ford Zephyr cars along with his nostalgia dragster are also highlights, being some of the cleanest and rarest examples in New Zealand. There is ample car, bus and coach parking on the grounds, and groups are most welcome to visit. Please notify us in advance if you have a large group. We also have a BBQ and picnic area, and tea and coffee is available. Entry: $5 per person, under 14 free. Click here for directions to Gasoline Heaven.
